Sam Chapman is an associate in the Business Law Group at Cassels. Sam’s practice is transaction based, involving all aspects of corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on advising public companies involved in M&A transactions, business combination transactions and corporate finance transactions (including takeover bids and going public transactions). In addition to transactional work, Sam advises public companies on their day-to-day securities compliance, disclosure and corporate governance matters and Canadian stock exchange issues. Sam advises public companies across industries, however, the focus of Sam’s practice is on the mining and resource sector. Sam advises mining clients at every stage of development. Sam has completed the Osgoode Certificate in Mining Law.

Sam completed the joint J.D./M.B.A. at the University of Victoria where he received the University of Victoria MBA Entrance Scholarship and Fasken Martineau DuMoulin Entrance Scholarship. At the University of Victoria, Sam served on the executive of the University of Victoria Law Students’ Society and assisted in founding the University of Victoria Access Pro Bono Student Clinic. Sam also served as President of both the Business Law Association and Sports and Entertainment Law Club. Sam earned a M.A. in History from the University of Western Ontario and a B.A. in History from the University of British Columbia.
