Marie Kiluu-Ngila is a 2019-2020 articling student at Cassels. Marie first joined the firm as a summer student in 2018. Marie received her J.D. from the University of Toronto, where she was a recipient of the Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award. In law school, she was an active member of the UofT community through her roles as Co-President of the Black Law Students’ Association and Associate Editor of the University of Toronto’s Indigenous Law Journal. During 3L, Marie spent a semester abroad at University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, Marie graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, History, and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto. During her undergraduate studies, she spent time in the United Kingdom, conducting research at the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies. Prior to joining Cassels, Marie worked as an ESL teacher and volunteered at the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture.
In her spare time, Marie enjoys traveling and has visited thirty countries including Turkey, Singapore, and Laos. She also enjoys trying new restaurants in the city and reading American classics.
