Mary Buttery Appointed Queen’s Counsel

We are proud to announce that partner Mary Buttery has been appointed Queen’s Counsel. This honorary title recognizes Mary’s skills as counsel as well as her commitment to legal education, community volunteerism and professional mentorship.

Specializing in the area of commercial insolvency, Mary has gained national recognition for her involvement on countless complex and high profile insolvency files – regularly advising clients who are experiencing financial difficulty, court officers and creditors. She has appeared as trial and appellate counsel in multiple provinces, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Supreme Court of Canada, where she was lead counsel on one of its leading insolvency decisions.

“Over the course of her career, Mary has shown an exceptional dedication to client service, the legal community and the Vancouver community-at-large,” says David Budd, Deputy Managing Partner in our Vancouver office. “She is widely recognised as a national leader in her field, and we are thrilled to congratulate her on this well-deserved honour.”

Just seven percent of practising lawyers in BC can be awarded this designation, which is conferred on members of the legal profession in acknowledgement of exceptional merit and contribution.
