Casey Chisick Named Canada’s Practitioner of the Year for Copyright at the 2022 ManagingIP Awards

Managing Intellectual Property, one of the world’s leading trade publications for intellectual property lawyers, has announced the 2022 winners of the prestigious ManagingIP Awards. Casey Chisick, Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property and Entertainment & Sports practices at Cassels, has been recognized as Canada’s Practitioner of the Year for Copyright.

Certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Intellectual Property (Copyright), and having worked as a law professor, a jazz producer, a concert promoter, and a musician, Casey offers his clients a rare combination of recognized expertise in copyright and other IP matters and first-hand experience in the business of entertainment. As litigation counsel, Casey has appeared in multiple seminal copyright appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada and is well-known for his expertise in the collective administration of copyright, having served as lead counsel in many rate-setting proceedings before the Copyright Board of Canada.

The ManagingIP Awards are presented annually to firms, individuals, and companies behind the most innovative and challenging IP work of the past year, as well as to those driving the international IP market.
